Experience with Unreal Engine from 4.5 - 4.27 and 5.0 beta - 5.3. Maintained a custom engine from 4.5 onwards to the current 5.3 version, including numerous fixes while keeping compatibility with the latest engine version.

Extended experience with the UObject system, replication and RPC for multiplayer, Render Hardware Interface (RHI), Gameplay Framework, Editor extension, Unreal Automation (UAT) and Build (UBT) Tools, Audio System and MetaSound, Niagara Particles, Nanite, Lumen, Plugins

Tooling

Extending the editor with simple to use and robust tools. Creating new editor modes, custom asset types and custom editors. Building and maintaining a pipeline for artists and designers. Developing and maintaining a build system for the project.

Debugging

Ability to debug and identify obscure and hard to find (engine) bugs. Finding the root cause of crashes, hangs, performance issues and other problems and not just fixing the symptoms.

Maintainable Code

Writing maintainable, clean and efficient code. Most time is spent reading, understanding and modifying existing code. Designing and implementing data driven and modular systems.

During our Port of Wartile to Tilt Five, we created the Native Plugin for Tilt Five inside Unreal Engine, bridging Unreal’s VR interface to Tilt Five. This allows to use the Tilt Five Glasses with minimal setup inside UE.
